Girls Night Appetizer: Spa Mask Taco Dip

A few weeks ago, my friend Kaitlin made and brought this delicious and unique appetizer to our Girls Night Gathering.  I hadn’t seen this before, not even on Pinterest, so I knew that I had to try making it myself!  This is Kaitlin’s (below)

  • 2–8 ounce blocks cream cheese, softened
  • 8  ounce sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 8 ounce monterrey jack cheese, shredded
  • 1 fresh mozzarella roll
  • 2 tablespoons taco seasoning
  • 1/2 cup guacamole
  • 2 slices cucumber
  • 1 red pepper
  • Gloves (Optional)
  • Face Mask (Optional)

In a bowl, combine cream cheese, cheddar cheese, monterrey jack cheese and taco seasoning.

I found that it was easier to mix with my hands, so I used food handling gloves to mash it together.

Wash your face mask (Michael’s, $2.99) with soap and water.  Then place a layer of saran wrap over the mask.  Press the cheese mixture into the mask.

You can refrigerate your cheese up to a week.  I refrigerated it overnight.  Take out your cheese mask and flip it onto a clean plate.  Your cheese face will look wrinkly, simply smooth it out with your fingers.  Spread the guacamole on face.  I made my own, you can also buy store bought.  Other recipes say to strain out chunks of guacamole with a fine strainer, but I kept all the chunks in mine to keep all of the flavor.

Take out your mozzarella roll and cut vertically, then horizontally.  Layer both pieces of mozzarella crisscrossed over the top of the cheese mask to form the “towel”

Carve lips out of your red pepper and add two slices of cucumbers over the eyes.

Using a spatula, transfer to serving dish, add tortilla chips and you’re ready to serve!
