Restaurant Review: Pie Five Pizza Co- Schaumburg, Illinois

August 10, 2015

Subway had it right when they started the (now increasingly popular) concept of completely customizing your meal.  It’s no wonder Chipotle had so much success using the same concept for their burritos.  Now imagine customizing your own pizza from crust to sauce and adding any toppings you desire for just $6.99.  Right in front of you.  Fresh.  In five minutes.  Is this a dream?

No, it’s Pie Five.

Pie Five Pizza is a trend-setting, fast-casual concept offering individual handcrafted pizzas with fresh ingredients made-to-order and prepared in less than five minutes.

Upon entering Pie Five Pizza Co, you are welcomed by a giant menu board proclaiming “any pie or salad, any way > $6.99”.  The menu is split into 3 options; Our Pie, Your Pie, Not Pie.

Our Pie:  a variety of signature pies to choose from

Your Pie:  customize your own pie’s sauce, crust and toppings

Not Pie:  add a signature salad or dessert to your pie

Naturally, I chose to create my own pie.  I chose the artisan crust with tuscan marinara sauce, topped with mozzarella & provolone blend cheese and meatballs.  My mouth was watering just watching the friendly pie makers create my custom pizza.  Pie Five isn’t just a fun play-on-words, but a promise of a pie in just five minutes.  While waiting, I watched as another woman tossed my caesar salad, asking me if I wanted to add any additional toppings.  The salad was then placed in a pizza crust bowl and after five promised minutes, my pizza was displayed in front of me.  “Is this okay for you?”, she asked.  Perfect!  I was then asked if I wanted “magic dust” on the pizza and even though I had no idea what that meant, I said yes and I did not regret it.

I proceeded to the checkout and added on a fountain drink, paying just $9.99 for my entire meal.

The atmosphere of the restaurant was modern and trendy, and my pie was TO DIE FOR.  Each bite better than the next and leaving me full but not to the point of uncomfortable.  While the pizza crust bowl tasted like a stale cracker, the salad was fresh.  If you’re looking for a quick, modern and fully customizable pie spot, I encourage you to take five minutes and pop into Pie Five Pizza Co!  The perfect lunch spot, easy date night or family-night dining experience.
