Operation New Room– Complete.

February 25, 2014
Ah, the bittersweet feeling of moving into a new room!  The cleanliness, the freshness, the feeling of something new.  It was a long project but finally the paint is on the walls, the new carpet is installed, the furniture is moved and the organizing and decorating has begun!  To give you an idea of what I had to work with, here are some before pictures..

This room was essentially a dump. Now lets check out the makeover I gave it…
With my boyfriend being deployed I had to make sure to include lots of things to remind me of him so one of my first projects after he left was making a photo booth-esque frame of us

While I wanted to have a wall collage I decided it might be too cluttered, so I settled for one of my favorite pictures- a character drawing Kevin and I had done in Virginia Beach

I added a few trinkets on my dresser without creating an overwhelming amount of clutter (we’ll see how long that lasts)

I just had to reuse one of my favorite pieces of furniture- my jewelry case.  I bought this pain in the ass piece at Ikea (putting it together/moving it is MUCH harder than it looks) and I don’t know how i’ll ever go back to a small jewelry case again

One of my favorite new pieces of furniture is this vanity from Z Gallerie!  I have always wanted a vanity in my room where I could spin a vinyl on my record player, throw on my satin robe and make myself into a princess with the help of my trusty makeup and heated hair appliances.

I was so excited to buy some adult bedding and pillows from Nordstrom and I think it looks great with the Tiffany blue paint

Anyone who knows me knows that I have a lot of stuff.  I was struggling to find a piece of furniture that could hold my purses and accessories without looking too cluttered and just in the knick of time my sister was looking to get this out of her house.  I think it works perfectly in my room!

These Gucci, Marc Jacobs and Chanel boxes were in our back room with a big “FREE” sign on them and I’m so glad I grabbed them.  I have all of my sunglasses in one, electronic cords in another and camera accessories in the other.

I find it so difficult to try and get work done on my laptop while in bed, so I’m really happy that I’m able to have a desk in my room.
Phew!  I am so relieved to have that done!  My next steps are to work on some more decor, attempt to de-clutter, find a spot to put all my shoes in my closet and the most dreaded….go through my old room and throw out, clean and store all that remains.
What do you think of the new room!?
