DIY Fishman Shoes – Total Price: $6.00

July 17, 2013

In college I became a crazed fan of the band Phish.  My first Phish show was to a festival called Festival 8 in Indio, California (the same venue as Coachella) where I really got a taste of what Phish was all about and it remains one of the best concerts I have ever been to.  My next show was to Miami, Florida where they played a 3-night New Years Eve Run.  After that I went to a few shows in local cities and here I sit having not gone to a Phish show in several years but extremely excited for Saturday’s show at Northerly Island with my siblings.
Every show I go to I like to add a splash of the band to my outfit so it would only seem appropriate that I wore something with Jon Fishman’s iconic cheerio print.

If you have even the slightest bit of crafting knowledge or know how to paint circles, you can make these.

I went on a search to find cheap shoes that would also provide my feetsies comfort for at least the duration of the show and I found these on sale for $4.99 at Kmart.  Cant beat that!
I took red acrylic paint and freehanded cheerio’s…and voila!

Simple as that!  You can also trace circles onto the shoes before applying paint so you are more precise and your circles don’t end up looking like squares – caps work perfectly (hairspray cap, vitamin bottle cap, water bottle cap etc..)
Now put your shoes on and get ready to boogie on, reggae woman!
