BBQ Chicken Wonton Cups

I am officially in love with wonton papers- they are SO easy to work with, you can fill them with whatever you want and bake them in the oven in no time.  I made these BBQ Chicken Wonton Cups over the weekend and they disappeared quickly during our Fourth of July festivities.  These adorable hors d’oeuvres are as much fun to make as they are to eat!

What you’ll need:image

  • 2 Chicken Breasts, chopped
  • 1 Cup Barbecue Sauce (I used Sweet Baby Rays)
  • Mexican-Style Shredded Cheese
  • Wonton Papers (Available at your local Jewel-Osco in the produce section)
  • Fresh Cilantro (Optional garnish)

Cook your chicken breasts; then chop into small pieces.  Preheat oven to 375

Spray your muffin tins with non-stick spray.  Place a wonton sheet in each cup of your muffin tin and press it down to the bottom

Combine the chicken, barbecue sauce, and cheese in a medium sized bowl

Place a small spoonful of BBQ Chicken Mixture on top of each sheet, then sprinkle with cheese on top

Re-layer again: wonton sheet, chicken mixture, cheese. (Each cup will have two layers of all ingredients)

Place in oven and bake for 18-20 Minutes {Per 12 Cups}

If you’re cooking a few hours in advance, you can reheat them in the oven on a cookie sheet until warm.  Let cool and enjoy!
